Leader for Systems Immuno-Oncology Center of Research Excellence

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center
Columbus, Ohio

The NCI-designated Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC), Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO), and OSU Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity (MI&I) are seeking an innovative leader to direct the PIIO Systems Immuno-Oncology (IO) Center of Research Excellence. The successful candidate will join the PIIO’s executive team in accelerating the pace for discovery and translation in cancer immunology and immunotherapy. Candidates should have an MD and/or PhD, documented evidence of high-quality, impactful research, and a strong commitment to mentorship and education. The Center Director will become faculty at the rank of either Associate Professor or Full Professor.

Rated “Exceptional” by the NCI for the third consecutive cycle, the OSUCCC established the PIIO as a $100 million comprehensive research initiative focused on developing cancer immunotherapy breakthroughs (cancer.osu.edu/PIIO). The Department of MI&I is a hub for cutting-edge fundamental immunology, evidenced by a recently awarded $10 million grant from the NCI to fund its Center to STOP-COVID (https://medicine.osu.edu/departments/mii).  The PIIO and MI&I are building a Systems IO Center to understand the pathways in immune cells that are most important for their effectiveness as tools to fight cancer. Current strengths include prominent investigators in the areas of immune regulatory programs, microbiome, NK and T cell biology, and tumor microenvironment.

The successful candidate will set the strategic vision for growing systems IO initiatives, recruit, retain, and further develop strong systems IO investigators, develop and enhance internal and external collaboration, build infrastructure for systems IO work, and participate in graduate and medical student education. Faculty will be provided a highly competitive salary and start-up package and have access to state-of-the-art laboratory spaces and resources (e.g. Spectrum Flow Cytometry, CyTOF, Multiplex Histology, Single Cell Technology, Immuno-Informatics, and more). To apply, email cover letter, Curriculum Vitae, 2-3 page description of research plans, and contact information for three references to the PIIO Search Committee Chair (osupiio@osumc.edu).

The Ohio State University is committed to establishing a culturally and intellectually diverse environment, encouraging all members of our learning community to reach their full potential. We are responsive to dual-career families and strongly promote work-life balance to support our community members through a suite of institutional policies.  To build a diverse workforce, qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or protected veteran status. EEO/AA employer.
